AUA Honorary Membership is reserved for scientists who have achieved outstanding prominence in a field of medicine related to Urology, Officers of the Association, and/or distinguished urologists. Each October, the AUA Immediate Past President nominates individuals for Honorary Membership. The following individuals were elected to 2017 Honorary Membership. For exemplary service and leadership as AUA president from 2014-2015.

William J. Catalona, MD

For exemplary dedication and commitment to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.

Christian G. Chaussy, MD

For pioneering contributions in the development of shockwave lithotripsy for the treatment of urinary stone disease.

John A. Fracchia, MD

For outstanding contributions in support of urology on the AUA Board of Directors, President of the New York Section, the New York urologist consortium EVP, and board member of a physician owned medical liability insurance company.

Steven M. Schlossberg, MD, MBA

For exemplary service and leadership as AUA Treasurer from 2013-2017.

Joseph A. Smith, Jr., MD
